RUSSELL, April Ryan 83, of St. Petersburg, passed away on Nov. 26, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born in Staten Island, NY, and moved to St. Petersburg when she was 11 years old. Her mother, Marie Ryan and her two brothers, Stanley and Tommy made St. Petersburg their home. April is preceded in death by her husband, James T. Russell (former Pinellas County State Attorney) after 54 years of marriage. April leaves behind a large & loving family; Michele Russell Katina with her husband Tom and daughter Katie, Karen Russell, Jim Russell Jr. with his wife Ellie and their four children, Christine Petty, Jimmy III, Maryanne and Joshua Russell, Cheryl Russell with her 3 children, Robert, Elizabeth, and Amanda Platz and two great-grandchildren, Willow and Ian. April loved bowling, Milka Bamond, (her best friend of 64 years) her African Grey, Charley, and her family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Girl's on the Run of Woodlawn Elementary at 1600 16th St. No. St. Petersburg, FL 33704. Friends will be received at the Christ United Methodist Church, 467 1st Ave. No. St. Petersburg, Friday, Nov. 29th, 12 pm until service time at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. R.
