John Carson Duffey, 58, well
known local insurance man, died
suddenly of a heart attack, at 10:45
p. m. Thursday at his home, 1612
High street. Although his death
was sudden, he had been suffering
from a heart ailment for several
months.
He was born March 11. 1891, In
Burnettsville, the son of John C.
and Martha Chilcott Duffey, and
was married 38 years ago to Victoria
Pierce of Lafayette.
He was graduated from Burnettsville
high school in 1911 and
attended Purdue university. He
operated the Duffey insurance
agency in the National Bank building,
having been in the insurance
business here since 1921. Prior to
that he was cashier in the State
Bank of Burnettsville.
The deceased was a member of
the Eagles and Elks lodges.
Surviving are the wife, Victoria,
the mother, of Burnettsville; a
daughter, Mrs. Howard White, city;
two grandchildren; four brothers,
Fred, city, James. Miami, Fla.,
George, Burnettsville, and William.
Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs.
Eleanor Bresenaham. Miami, Fla.,
and Miss Ruth Duffey, Phoenix,
Ariz.
Funeral services will be conducted
at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Mc-
Closkey-Hamitton chapel, w i t h
burial made in the Davis cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home
where friends may call after 7
p. m. Friday.
Members of the Elks lodge will
hold ritualistic services at the
chapel at 7:30 o'clock Saturday
evening.
