JAIME TOMAS YORBA

Jaime Tomas Yorba passed away unexpectedly September 21, 2004, surrounded by family and friends. Jaime was born January 30, 1958, the 9th of 10 children. He grew up on the citrus ranch of Margie and Bernardo Yorba. As a member of a large family service to others is just part of everyday life, but Jaime made it his life's work. In high school he was part of the wrestling team training staff. As a young man he spent 7 years in the Capuchin Fransciscan order. Jaime left the Franciscan order, but continued to answer a call to serve. He worked with the Second Harvest Food Bank for many years, where he discovered a talent for organization and management. For the last 9 years he worked with Harte-Hanks Logistics, managing transportation and distribution systems all over the west coast. Jaime and his longtime roomate and best friend Mel Jones were also known for their generosity to their family, friends and neighbors as well. The aroma of good BBQ often anounced that dinner was served. Jaime and Mel were also expert at peculiarly Southern California adventures. They were a fixture on the model house circuit, and thought nothing of driving 100 miles to enjoy the buffet offered at a million dollar open house. Jaime was blessed with a famously dry humor. Everyone privliged to be touched by him will never forget his warmth and humanity, and he will be sorely missed. A funeral mass will be held at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 5800 Santa Ana Canyon Road, Anaheim, California, Friday September 24, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations of cash or food be sent to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, 426 W. Almond Ave, Orange, California.
