OBITUARY: 1918 Feb 12 Tuesday
Andrew J. Emmert, aged 79 years, a former resident of the Hope neighborhood, died at his home in Lancaster Monday morning of pneumonia. The body was brought to Columbus this morning on the early train and taken to the home of his son, William Emmert near Hope. The funeral will be held from the Moravian Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Internment will be made in the Moravian Cemetery. Mr. Emmert is survived by his widow and five children. He was a veteran of the Civil War.

The Late Andrew J. Emmert
Lancaster, Ind., Feb. 13 - Andrew J. Emmert was born in Chambersburg, Pa., March 9, 1838 and departed this life at Lancaster, Jefferson county, Ind. Feb. 11, 1918 being near 80 years of age.
He served in the civil war 22 1/2 months as a private in the 188th Pennsylvania volunteer infantry. He was also detailed as clerk to the adjutant of the 6th V. R. C. regular.
He was left an orphan at the age of 12 years. Two sisters and two half-brothers survive him. He was first married at Cincinnati in 1866 to Miss Barbara Porter. To this union five children were born, viz., Harry R., Wm. H., Mary E., Lillie A., and Martha J.. All of whom are married.
His second wife, Rebecca Grant died in 1897. His present wife was Mrs. Lulu Wilkerson, to whom he was married in November 1907 and who survives him.
"Uncle Jack" as he was familiarly known among us will be sadly missed. He was held in high esteem by all, and as long as he lived and was able to walk he could be found in the Sabbath school and church services, rarely failing to be present if at all able to get there.
His two sons and one daughter were present at the end. He will be buried at Hope, Bartholomew county, Ind.

I was Married in Cincinnati to Miss Barbara Porter in 1866. 5 children was Born to us, Harry R., William H., Mary E. Hysel, Lillie A. Cathers and Martha Jane Maddock all Married
I Andrew J Emmert has been married 3 (--?) times, wives Rebecca Grant of Decatur lived 3 1/2 years with me and Died in Waynesburg, Decatur Co, 1897 in May 1899 I Married Mary Ireland in Jefferson Co., Divorced her the fifth of April 1907 In November 1909 I married Lula Wilkerson of Jefferson Co
