Luther Everett Miller, age 96,of Topeka, Kansas died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.

He was born May 23, 1909, in Winslow, Arkansas, the son of John Wesley and Sarah Elizabeth (Terry) Miller.

He and Celesta Emmaline "Lettie" Rose were married May 15, 1932 in Crawford County, Arkansas.

Luther worked as a barber in Chester, Arkansas, and Topeka, Kansas for 60 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a lifetime Master Shooter, specializing in handguns. He shot competitively for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Capital City Gun Club for 35 years, holding the offices of Range Officer and Vice President.

He worked as a photographer for six years, photographing weddings. He was a former member of the Topeka Camera Club.

He and Jean B. Berwick were married in December 2001 in Topeka.

Luther was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane S. Miller; and three sisters, Della Miller, Fairy Tomlinson and Lila Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; a son, Harold L. Miller and a daughter, Joyce F. Barker, both of Winslow, Arkansas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Miller will lie in state from 3:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

A Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Penwell-Gabels Memorial Park Cemetery, at Topeka, Kansas.
