Edwin Kohl Matthews, age 87, passed away on February 9, 2013 at 11:37 AM at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson. He was survived by his wife of 69 years, Nannie B. Matthews; two children, Linda and husband J.C. Short, Wanda and husband Michael Mitchell; three grandchildren, Candice and Karl Jicha, Carmen and Brad Docter and Catherine Mitchell; one great grandchild, Camille Jicha. Mr. Matthews was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Corps.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Hattie Matthews; two brothers, Dean Matthews and Harry Matthews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Chapel with Rev. Joseph Fulk officiating. Interment will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery with full military honors given by Mt. Airy VFW Post 2019.
