U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Henderson State College, in 1929, Cumberland University Law School, in 1930, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was deputy prosecuting attorney of Union County, (1933-36) and prosecuting attorney of the thirteenth judicial circuit of Arkansas, (1937-40). In 1841, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-seventh Congress and to the nest twelve succeeding Congresses, serving until he resigned in 1966. That same year, he accepted the position as U.S. district judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, serving until about the last year of his life.
