During a service at his church in Brooklyn, N.Y., he became ill and slipped out of the church unnoticed into the open air and sat down on the front steps of the church. A few minutes later a small boy came in and reported that the preacher was sick outside. He died Tuesday. Mr. Ellis was one of the most popular and successful preachers in the Baptist church. He was well liked in Decatur. He preached here before the new church was built.
