Emma passed away on Saturday June 12 of natural causes. Emma was born in Scott County Arkansas on Jan 26, 1920, the daughter of Birk Jefferson and Alice Damon Ward, and was the wife of Victor A. Johnston (deceased) of Turlock.

Emma was a student of Anthony Real Estate School and continued her education at San Jose State College and Modesto JC. She was owner and broker of Johnston Realty of Turlock. She served as secretary and later became the first female President of the Turlock Board of Realtors in 1976 and state director. She was a member of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, American Business Women's Association (Charter), and Home Builder Assn.

Emma is survived by her children, Doyle W. of Boulder, CO, Rita LaJune (Grove) of Victorville, CA and Ferrel Dee of Turlock. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Allen Mortuary with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
