Martha Sue Aldridge, age 75, of Columbus, MS, passed away July 28, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Elder Jesse Phillips officiating and Elder Herman Clark assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Aldridge was born February 14, 1937, in Kolola Springs, MS, to the late Clarence and Kittie Cooper Aldridge. She was a retired supervisor from McCoy Manufacturing and member of New Salem Baptist Church. Mrs. Aldridge also attended Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd, Boyd, Thomas, Jimmy, and J. C. "Bill" Aldridge. Survivors include her husband, Charles Aldridge of Columbus, MS, sons, Charles Aron Aldridge and wife Margaret of Columbus, MS, and Mike Aldridge and wife Pam of Caledonia, MS, daughter, Pam James and husband Bob of Caledonia, MS, sister, Gladys West of Tuscon, AZ, grandchildren, Cory James, Elizabeth "Beth" James, Tammie Jennings, Amanda Braxton, Kayla Scarborough, and Chris Hester, and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews and grandchildren, Roger Bell, Dennis Aldridge, Chris Hester, Richard "Dick" Aldridge, Cameron Jennings, and Cory James. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Baptist Memorial Hospice Program.
