Roberta Marie Howard Parnell, age 80 of Fairborn, OH went to her heavenly home June 2, 2011. She was born May 6, 1931 and was raised in Leslie County, KY. She was employed as a hairdresser for over forty years as owner and operator of "Roberta's Beauty Shop" in Fairborn, a place of beautification and socialization where her customers turned into life-long friends. She also spent ten years catering at the Officer's Club on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She enjoyed her home and spent her summers working in her garden, canning and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables. She leaves behind her daughters and spouses, Brenda and Jim McGuire of Fairborn, and Vickie and David Pressler of Springfield, OH; grandchildren, Bill, Kevin, Katelyn, Kyle, and Keaton; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Clarissa; as well as a sister, Helen Wilson; a brother, Kenneth and Wanda Howard; her companion, Ernest Parker, and children and spouses, Rick and Cindy Parker, Rita Parker, Jeff and Connie Parker; and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vitas Hospice and many other caregivers over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, U.S. and Mattie Howard and a brother, Wesley Howard. A funeral service will be held on June 8, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Ed Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Byron Cemetery.
