Timothy Carey, 21, Wilton grad, college student

Timothy Benjamin Carey of 232 Nod Hill Road died in his sleep in his Chicago apartment on Sunday, June 20. He was 21.

A lifetime resident of Wilton, he graduated from Wilton High School in 2007, attended Columbia College, and was transferring to DePaul University in the fall.

"After years of excelling at numerous sports, music, writing and ensuring that everyone around him felt welcomed, he was recently happier and more productive than he had been for years and was excited about his education, his new apartment in Chicago, his friends and wonderful new girlfriend, and his future, in general," his parents said.

Surviving family members include his mother, Julie, and father, Tony, as well as grandfather Tom Tomlinson, aunt Mimi Carey, godmother Trisha Tomlinson and godfather Anthony Day. Family members who died earlier include his uncle Steve Tomlinson, his grandmother Joan Tomlinson, and his brother Andrew Carey.

"We are grateful to all of the friends and family that have arrived in masses to share their sorrow and love," his parents said. "If you knew Tim, you probably have fantastic memories or at least a great story to tell. Similar to what we did last summer for Andrew, we invite everyone to write down and hand us your favorite impression, thought, or tale to help us remember why we loved him so much."
