Surrounded by loved ones at his daughter's home in Hershey, Curtis Ray Pierce, 66, of Ephrata, passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 24, 2013, from late-stage cancer.

Pierce was born June 5, 1947, in Lancaster and was a proud Navy Veteran. He worked his entire life as a welder, most recently at ­Gamlet Inc. in York. A long-time resident of Maytown, Pierce coached girls softball for many years and was known for his long, red beard and strong, quiet nature.

He is survived by his brother, Johnny Pierce of Winterville, N.C.; four daughters, Andrea Pierce of Mt. Holly Springs, Jeannie Nelson of Mt. Joy, Jennifer Mendez of Lansing, Kan., and Catrina Moore of Hershey; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Rapp, and daughter, Fawn Pierce, both of Maytown.

Funeral Services will be held at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Road, Route 999, Millersville, PA 17551 on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10 AM (Visitation 9-10 AM). Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, PA with Military Honors.
