Mae was a 1938 graduate of the Kutztown State Teachers College and taught in the East Penn Union School District for many years.
She was a member of the Palm Schwenkfelder Church and the Ladies' Aid Society there. She was a charter member and past president of the Emmaus Women's Club, and a member of the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania and American Optometric Auxiliaries. Mae was a life member of the Knauss Homestead Preservation Society, as well as the Shelter House Society of Emmaus, the Emmaus Historical Society, and the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center.
Surviving were daughters, Barbara, wife of Gerard T. Colvin, of Hatfield and Jean, wife of Gregory B. Ross, of Emmaus; grandchildren, Peter Colvin; Andrew Colvin and his wife, Erica, Daniel Colvin and his wife, Justine, David Colvin, Christopher Ross, and his wife, Kimberly, and Emily Ross; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Thomas Colvin and Ian Ross; and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by siblings, Dr. Claude K. Deischer, Howard K. Deischer, Irene E. Deischer, Clara M. Kreider, and Albert K. Deischer.
Her Memorial Service was held on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, Palm, PA 18070.
