DOWNEY - John David Olsen passed away peacefully Nov. 25 at his home in Bozeman, Mont., after several years of declining health. He was born Aug. 28, 1968 to Joseph and Mildred Olsen, of Downey, the youngest of nine siblings. He attended Downey public schools and graduated from Downey High School in 1986.After attending DeVry University, John went on to work in the fields of telecommunications, computers and sales. He spent many years living in the Downey and Newport Beach areas before relocating to Bozeman several years before his passing. Over the years John was active in the recovery community in Newport Beach and Bozeman, attending meetings and lending support to anyone who was in need. He is survived by his son, Johnny Olsen of Brea; siblings, Joe and Carol Hancock of Oregon, Marilyn Olsen and Howie Wolke of Emigrant, Mont., Dan and Jan Olsen of Victorville, Tim Olsen and Marty Kreloff of Las Vegas, Mary and Mark Serrato of Texas, Brian Olsen and Marcus Arthur of Long Beach, and Kathleen and Robi Johns of Bozeman; and nieces and nephews Tony, Robert, Nathan, Bridget, Josh, Jan Marie, Steve, Carlos, Shannon, Cristalle, Sean and their children. John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred, and brother Bob. A memorial is planned in Newport Beach at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in John's memory to the Open Arms Drop In Center at Gallatin Mental Health Center, 699 Farm House Road, Bozeman, MT 59715.
