He was the son of Charles J. and Emma (Girard) Perryman. Skip attended Escanaba schools and was a lifelong resident of Escanaba.
On Sept. 23, 1952, Skip entered into active service of the U.S. Army. Serving during the Korean Conflict, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 22, 1955.
Skip worked for 37 years for Chicago North Western Railroad as their conductor and brakeman until his retirement in 1991.
Charles J. Perryman married Helen M. "Sis" Gallagher on March 30, 1957, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba.
He loved to golf and bus trips to the casinos. Skip was an avid fan of all the Detroit sports teams.
Among survivors include two sons, three brothers, three sisters, a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Helen "Sis;" brother, James R.; and sister, Shirley "Billie Ann" Makosky.
Visitation at the Crawford Funeral Home with the Delta County Veterans Council service. A funeral service with Deacon Lew Vailliencourt officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
