Mr. Wilkerson retired in 1992 from Cummins Engine Company where he had worked for 30 years as a machinist. He was a member of the Cattlemen's Association and a former member of the Soil & Water Conservation Board and Farm Service Association Board.
He enjoyed no-till farming, custom hay work, raising beef cattle, collecting antique hay forks and gardening.
Born in Columbus on December 17, 1943, Mr. Wilkerson was the son of Orval and Ellen Fleetwood Wilkerson. He married Gwendolyn Lucas on August 4, 1963.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gregory A. Wilkerson of Columbus; brothers, Jerry (Diane) Wilkerson and Jim (Joyce) Wilkerson, both of Columbus; and a grandson, Zachary Wilkerson of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Wilkerson.
