Screenwriter, Producer. Along with his twin brother, Julius Epstein, and Howard Koch, he shared the Best Screenplay Academy Award for "Casablanca" (1942). His other important movie credits included "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (1942), "Mr. Skeffington" (1944), "Arsenic and Old Lace" (1944), and "The Last Time I Saw Paris" (1954). Epstein was a 1931 graduate of Penn State and boxed collegiately there. He died of cancer. His grandson Theo was General Manager of the Boston Red Sox from 2002 to 2011 and was named General Manager of the Chicago Cubs in 2011.
