Troy was born on February 15, 1961, in Clarinda, Iowa. His parents are Don L. and Joyce (Brown) Porter. Troy and his family lived in Clarinda, IA, as a child, and then in the Maryville area from 1973-80. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Troy was a 1980 graduate of the Maryville R-II High School. He then spent 20 years in the US Army, retiring in 2000, as a Sargeant First Class. He had lived in Colorado before moving to the Kansas City area 12 years ago.
Survivors include his 4 children, Ryan Michael (Marci) Porter, Amanda Rose (Wesley) Helms, Corey (Jillian) Porter, all of North Carolina, and Brittany Porter; his granddaughter, Desiree, both of North Kansas City; his brother, Tracy (Julie) Porter, Kansas City, MO, and his parents, Don and Joyce Porter, of Olathe, KS; numerous aunts, uncles and nieces.
Cremation has been completed under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, the minister will be Rev. Dale Stewart.
Inurnment with full Military Rites will be in the Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, IA, immediately following the memorial service.
