Hubert Dale Gideon entered Heaven on January 9, 2009 at 12:25 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital Beech-Grove to join his Savior, beloved p a re n t s and sisters. H u b e r t was born on March 9, 1924 in Edinburgh to Everett and Monnie Wa r f i e l d Gideon. His sisters were Melba I. Burton and Dorothy F. Gideon. Hubert will be remembered for his zest for living, love for his Savior and sharing the Gospel with others. Hubert loved reading his Bible, going to church, sitting in his swing enjoying Joyce's flower garden and the warm sun, and working in his yard. As a young man he loved to play baseball, to box and to bowl. He was a member of Who So Ever Will Community Church, Edinburgh. Hubert served as a seaman, first class in the U.S. Navy, LCI 450 fleet, during WWII. He received ribbon bar awards and letters of commendation for his heroism and meritorious conduct during the invasions of Iwo Jima, Marshall Islands, Guam, Saipan and Tinian. Hubert loved attending Navy reunions with his fellow shipmates. He retired after 54 years of full-time and part-time employment at the Amos-Thompson Molded Plastics which was United Technology at the time of his retirement. Hubert was a hard worker who was loyal to his employer and who cared about the people who worked with him. On December 22, 1962 Hubert married Joyce Couch. Their marriage has been an example of love and respect and has been an inspiration to others. Family was very important to him. He was deeply loved by his son, Ronald Dale (Marilyn) of Tallahassee, Fla. Hubert is also survived by 5 grandchildren (Robbie, Amy, Melissa, Rosie and Mikie), 3 greatgrandchildren (Haley, Wil, and Landon), nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law and a host of friends. A celebration of Hubert's life will be Tuesday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Who So Ever Will Church in Edinburgh. The celebration will be conducted by Pastor Lewis Burton and Rev. Carson Scarbrough. The graveside service, including a military salute, will be immediately following the funeral at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh. Visitation will be Monday, January 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the Who So Ever Will Church. and 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church until time of the service. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Hospice through the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, Edinburgh LOCATION: SINGLE GRAVE 640
