He was born January 25, 1926 in DuQuoin, IL, the son of Charles Franklin and Ida Jane (Alvis) Pugh. He married Margaret Beard on April 20, 1956 in Galesburg, IL. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Marines. He was employed by Peabody Coal Company at Mine #10 for 32 years. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. District 12, Local 9819.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Stonington; children: Timothy (wife Linda) Pugh of Colorado Springs, Co, and their children, Timothy, Jr., Patricia and Jonathan. Carla (husband Jerry) Pruett of Houston, TX, and their children, Sarah and Aaron Brown, Rachel, Stephanie and Hannah. Charles (wife Nicole) Pugh of Stonington and their children, Jack, Samuel, Amber, Wim and Tyler. Roger (wife Lara) Pugh of Metropolis, IL, and their children, Carl, Margaret and Kathryn; there are 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1 in Connolly-McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Marge Overlott officiating. Burial will be in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31 in the funeral home.
