James M. Landes, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 in Independence, MO. He was born June 20. 1921 in Coffey, MO to Omer and Hattie (Harbord) Landes. James served in country during WWII in the Army Air Force. On February 20, 1949 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ruth (Cook) Landes and she preceded him in death in 2012. He worked as a postal machine mechanic for the US Postal Service. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children; sons, James R. Landes and wife Sheila of Independence, MO, Roger Landes of Taos, NM; daughter Kathleen Dunson and husband Dalan of Lone Jack, MO; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, June 9, 2014 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO, 816-229-3276.
