Born in Berkeley, CA to Andrew and Hulda Bergman, Swedish immigrants, Edythe came to Hilmar at the age of 2, attended Elim Elementary and graduated from Hilmar High School in 1935. Edythe was a secretary for the Turlock Sales Yard for 27 years and for Elim Elementary for 10 years. She was a dedicated life-long member of Berea Lutheran Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, in women's groups and social events. She was also instrumental in beginning the quilting club. Edythe was a member of the Hilmar Grange and Historical Society and spent many years as an involved 4-H leader.

Edythe found great joy in her creative hobbies, including sewing, needlepoint, knitting and crocheting many afghans for others, baking with an artistic flair, and making jams and jellies. She enjoyed her active years of bowling, camping, and RV trips.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and husbands Weldon Zehrung and Stanley Barlow. She is survived by nieces/caregivers Beverly Strom-Wenstrand and Joelle Erlandson, many other nieces and nephews and many great friends.

We loved her deeply and will miss her wonderful sense of humor and sunny disposition.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday June 4, 2009 at 3:00pm Turlock Memorial Park Mausoleum.
