Ellsworth C. Machin Jr., 82, of Hanover Township, died June 3 in his home. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Nothstein) Machin, who died in 1999.
A graduate of Cornell University, where he received a degree in engineering, he was an engineer and past president and chief executive officer of E.C. Machin, Inc., General Contractors, Bethlehem, until retiring in 1980.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, he was a son of the late Ellsworth C. Sr. and Helen E. (Ochs) Machin.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bethlehem, and a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with a construction battalion in the Pacific theatre.
He was active in the spiritual planning and construction of several area Methodist churches. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and a former director of Union Bank & Trust Co., Bethlehem.
Survivors: Son, Ellsworth C. III of Nazareth; a granddaughter, a stepgrandson.
