Miss Mable Younie, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at 8:20 Monday morning following a lingering illness. She has been in failing health since last October but she was bedfast but ten days preceding her death. Although her illness covered a period of many months she maintained a cheerful spirit until the end which came peacefully Monday morning.

Funeral services were held at the Associated church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon with Rev. T.H. Harding in charge. Six of her cousins, Russ Younie, Richard Younie, Elmer Younie, Roy Abbey, Wendell McAninch and William Younie, were pall bearers. Interment was made in the family plot in Grace Hill cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects to the memory of the departed.

Mable Alice Younie, eldest daughter of Richard W. and Nettie Younie, was born on the old home farm in Eagle township Dec. 27, 1893, and passed away June 29, 1936, having attained the age of 42 years, 6 months and 2 days. She received her grade education in the rural schools after which she entered the Hawarden high school, graduating with the class of 1913. She moved to Hawarden with her parents nearly twenty years ago and has made her home in this city continuously since that time. Since there death of her father July 6, 1932, she has been a constant companion to her mother and her passing will be sorely mourned by her mother as well as her sister. She was a member of the Associated church and the Entre Nous club and the Rebekah lodge. During the days when her health permitted she was a faithful worker in the organizations of which she was a member. She is survived by her mother and one sister, Mrs. Warren French, and one nephew, Charles French.

Mable Younie was a moan of high ideals and of noble purpose. She possessed an unassuming and retiring disposition but was ever a loyal and trustworthy friend.

Out of town relatives and friends who attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Younie, Mrs. Albert Moeller and Monte Tollin, Mitchell, S.D.; Wm. Abbey and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Abbey and two children, Witten, S.D.; Wm. Younie and Miss Mildred Younie, Schaller; Mrs. Ella Voverka, LeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stiles and Mrs. L.M.
