Sarah, born in Chapman, AL, has joined her parents, Barnel Bowden Couey and Amy Margaret Henderson Couey, and her husband of more than 67 years, Garland Hixon (Buddy) Norris in Heaven. Sarah is survived by their children Deborah J. Norris, Jonathan H. Norris (Sharon) and Amy Rose Heffernan (Tom). She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Ann (Peggy) Kelly and her brother, Dr. Ned Russell Couey (Margaret); nieces Barbara Ellen Kelly, Leigh Ann Holderfield; in-laws Gloria Tatum and Glenn Norris.
Known to her grandchildren as "Grandmother" and "Mammaw", missing her will be Marc Cayson (Michelle), sons David, Aaron and Matthew; James Cayson (Nicole); Rick Norris, sons Nathan and Garett; Rachel Medici (John), daughters Brittney and Ashley; Jon Paul Norris (Crystal), son Peyton, daughters Maya and Gwen; Rebekah Norris, sons Alex, Cody and daughter Kylee; Sarah Heffernan Rogers (Josh), sons Beckett, Merrick and Hollander; Meghan Heffernan McMillan (Andrew); and Sean Heffernan.
She is loved and missed by many and was well-known for her never-ending love for music, flowers and birds. She frequently used poetry and song to express her feelings.
Sarah spent many years working for Western Union in Pensacola as a telegraph operator. She also delivered singing telegrams. She took great delight in assisting people compose their messages to loved ones.
Pallbearers include Marc Cayson, Jimmy Cayson, John Medici, Jon Paul Norris, Josh Rogers, Andrew McMillan and Sean Heffernan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 1 till the beginning of the 2 PM service at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
