FRANCES BROWNING LOWE passed into the arms of Christ, on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, in her home, with her adoring family around her.
She is survived by four children and their spouses Kenneth Browning, Janice & Dr. Thomas Erndt, Earshel Browning and Violet & Kip Bowman; grandchildren and their spouses Dawn & Yohana Hill, Paul & Amanda Browning, Nicholas Browning, Rachel & Tyson Tingley, Dr. Aaron & Cindy Erndt, Katharine & Dave Evener, Heath & Joey Bowman, Chad Bowman, Niki & Jay Vail, Tara & Levi Oswalt; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law Oma Goodman and Barb & John Faber, a brother and sister-in-law Ira & Treva Shelton; two sisters-in-law Sylvia Shelton and Gloria Shelton, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond, second husband Melvin "Gene", four brothers Carson and Bill Barton, and Roy and Claude Shelton, and a granddaughter Audrey Bowman.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 25, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services giving glory to God for the life of Frances Browning Lowe will be held at 2 pm. Pastor Tj Waters will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Frances may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or to Lexington Church of Christ for the Youth and Children's Ministries.
The year was 1932. Frances Violet Shelton was born in Russell County, Virginia, one of six children to Dell and Maggie (Salyer) Shelton. Proud of her southern heritage, Frances was a hillbilly by birth and by choice. The world was graced with the presence of someone who would impact thousands of lives.
The year was 1943. Frances faithfully gave her life to the Lord. She was a servant who walked in faith and turned her passion for serving into her personal ministry. The love she showed to her family was extended to encompass the lives of everyone she met. Frances was compassionate with those who struggled and the most faithful of friends. A faithful Christian friend, Frances, guided by the Holy Spirit, spent countless hours cooking, cleaning, and babysitting for women in need of help. Friends of her children were so touched by her kindness and gentle heart that they continued to meet with her several times a year, more than three decades after their graduation. She made quilts for the homeless and was always giving of her time and talents for others. Frances was a long-time member of Lexington Church of Christ, where she was dedicated to helping in the nursery and children's program.
The year was 1953. Frances moved to the North Liberty community to raise her family. She had a great sense of humor, and a heart so big it enveloped everyone around her.
Frances was real. It was important for her to REALLY know you. She looked you in the eyes when she spoke and prayed for you upon sharing your concerns. She spent much time getting to know her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and blessed them with many special memories. They knew her nickname "Pank" and shared a special bond with each of them. Frances was never too old to jump on trampolines or go swimming; she especially delighted in the annual "girls night slumber parties" to commemorate her granddaughter's birthdays. She was active not only physically in their lives, but also spiritually. She prayed earnestly for her loved ones salvation and protection. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her boundless love and she will be remembered as a mother and grandmother who gave the best hugs this side of heaven.
The year was 1978. Frances married Melvin "Gene" Lowe. For over 29 years the two served the Lord and those around them. Everyday Frances and Gene read the Bible together. Their marriage was a cherished example to their children and grandchildren of faithful obedience and genuine love.

Hospitable, with a flair for old time charm and presentation, she knew and taught her daughters and granddaughters that, "Food tastes better, when you serve it on a pretty plate." She loved fresh flowers and thanks to family and friends her home was graced with beautiful bouquets right up until the moment she went to be with the Lord. Never questioning, Frances' carefree submission to the Lord's plan was always, "His will be done."
