Russell Jacobson, 89, of Clearbrook, Minnesota, died on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Kindred Hearts in Green Bay, WI.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN with Reverend Bob Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be held ½ an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Seljord Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.
Russell was born November 1, 1922 in Clearbrook, Minnesota, the son of Alvin & Molly (Westby) Jacobson. He grew up in Clearbrook and attended Clearbrook High School graduating in 1942.
Russell entered the United States Navy in 1943 serving our country during WWII from 1943-1947.
Russell married Ann Pechtl on April 7, 1947 in Seattle, WA. They lived in Seattle for a few years and moved to St. Cloud where he worked as a meat cutter for the Veteran's Hospital. Russell retired at 55 and they moved to their farm in Clearbrook, MN where they spent several years. Russell and his wife were snow birds in the winter traveling south. Russell's hobbies included hunting, fishing, farming and he loved spending time in the woods. Russell was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook and also the Melvin Johnson American Legion Post # 256 of Clearbrook, MN.
He is survived by his daughter- Shirley (Dale) Johnson of Green Bay, WI Son - Duane (Loretta) Jacobson of Costa Rica Sister- Alva Benson of Minneapolis, MN Sister - Muriel (Ed) Helmick of Gonvick, MN 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers - Byron and Armond; and Sister - Fran.
