Life Legacy

Linda Lee Burgess, age 67, of Greenville, passed away on Friday evening, November 15, 2013 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids following a severe stroke.

The daughter of Doctor & Ruth (Hunt) Bradley, she was born on May 23, 1946 in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville High School.

On September 29, 1964, in Sunfield, she married James Daniel Burgess and together they enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage until Jim passed away just nine short weeks ago on Friday, September 13, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Bob Bradley and Don Bradley.

Linda had worked for several years at Grant's Variety Store and later at Wolverine World Wide. A devoted wife and mother, Linda also enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, reading, and history. A member of Greenville Community Church, in recent years she was an active volunteer at the church and was pursing a degree in ministry.

Surviving are her children, Tammy & Jeff Johnson of Sheridan, Teresa & Dennis Anderson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tracy Sanders & Pat Elderkin, and Toni & Terry Dowdell, all of Greenville; ten grandchildren, Doctor Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Nicole & Chris Vickrey, Matthew Anderson, Steven Anderson, Ashley & John Jackson, Prescott Ingraham, Darian Newman, Aidan Dowdell, and Alexander Dowdell; five great grandchildren with the sixth on the way; a sister, Dorothy Barber of Greenville; two brothers, Jim Bradley and Harold Bradley, both of Haines City, Florida; siblings-in-law, Fay Bradley of Gowen, Bob & Elizabeth Johnson of Greenville, Gloria & Larry Simmons of Greenville, Bill & Becky Coleman of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Rick & Brenda Coleman of Ridge Manor, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation with the family is from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where envelopes for memorial contributions will be available.

Memorial services are at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Greenville Community Church, 6596 Vining Road, Greenville, with the Rev. Joel Heron, lead pastor, officiating.
