1933 - 2013
Virginia Harris Pickett, 80, of Caldwell, peacefully passed away in her sleep November 21, 2013. Services will be held at 10:00 Wednesday December 4, at the Caldwell LDS Stake Center 3015 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, ID. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday December 3 at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell and prior to the funeral service from 9 am to 9:45 am at the Stake Center.

Virginia was born September 29, 1933, the only daughter of Virgil Allen and Della Johnson Harris in Nampa, ID. She lived in Canyon County the majority life.
Virginia attended Pleasant Ridge and Huston Grade Schools. She also attended Caldwell Jr. and Sr. High Schools graduating in 1951. While she was a junior in high school she met the love of her life E. Richard 'Dick' Pickett. She went on to attend Boise Junior College and the University of Idaho, where she was a proud Pi Beta Phi sorority sister.
Virginia married Dick December 11, 1954. Together they were blessed with five children. They were sealed in the Boise Temple October 10, 1987. Dick passed away February 11, 2005. They proudly raised five children in the Caldwell area.
Throughout the years, Virginia was employed at Owyhee County Extension service in Marsing Idaho, then Farmers Home Administration in Caldwell. In 1988, her husband's employment required them to move to move to Vale, OR where Virginia started working for the BLM. In 1994 the couple built a new home on Ustick Road in Caldwell and Virginia commuted to Vale until she retired in 1995.
Virginia loved sporting events. She never wanted to be left behind for a ball game, rodeo, dance or piano recital. Virginia said that she wished she had a nickel for every ball game she had attended. Because if she did she would be a millionaire several times over! She added, she wouldn't take a million dollars in trade for any one of those games. Her support was priceless! Just days before her passing, she was cheering on her grandson at a football game with that twinkle in her eye!
Virginia is survived by her children, Dee (Brenda) Pickett of Eagle and their children Cody (Carleigh), Sara and Carson; Ginna (John) Maggard of Caldwell and their children Rena (Jeremy) and JR; Jay (Elena) Pickett of Los Angeles, CA and their children Maegan, Michaela and Tyler; Rich (Rhonda) Pickett of Caldwell and their children Colton, Jace and Bo; Jan (Bob) Larison of Caldwell and their children Ringo, Rainy and Lan. She has 6 great grandchildren - Bailey, Cash, Mayzee, Jaxon, Izac, Maddox with one on the way!
Virginia was known for her beautiful smile - her smile was something you could always depend on. She said many times over the years how blessed she was to have her children, family and friends, thanking her heavenly father each time. Such a "one of a kind Lady" will be missed and remembered always!
