Our Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, will always be in our hearts. Douglas Richard Horrocks, age 80, of Duchesne Utah, passed away November 22, 2013, at their winter home in Cherokee Springs Washington, Utah.

He fought a brave and tough battle with cancer.

He was born February 4, 1933 in Arcadia, Utah, to Franklyn Ray Horrocks and Melna Beatrice Gilbert.

He married his Sweetheart, Love of his life, NaDeane Allred, on October 3, 1952 in Duchesne, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 16, 1964.

He was a man of many skills, wearing various hats: Worked in the Oil Fields, Owned and Operated an American Oil Service Station, Served as Fire Chief, EMT, School Bus Driver and City Councilman. For 25 years, he served as Chief of Police for Duchesne City and Chief Deputy for the Duchesne County Sheriff ‘s Dept. The last years of his law enforcement career he spent as a Detective, investigating abused children cases. Doug was presented with the Utah Outstanding Service to Children Award, April 27,1992.

He loved to rifle and bow hunt, fish, go four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends. August you would find him in his favorite place, The Book Cliffs. He always had a story of an adventure to share. We will miss hearing them. Upon his retirement, Doug and NaDeane established their winter home in Cherokee Springs Washington, Utah. They enjoyed 20 wonderful years there, making memories and new friendships. He touched the lives of so many people.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, NaDeane, Children, Melna (John) Ibach of St. George, Diane (Brent) Lewis of Heber, Marilyn (Terry) Despain of Duchesne, 7 Grandchildren, Sheilla, Angela, Amanda, Nathan, Aaron, Michael, and Brendon. 17 great grandchildren, Brother, Gilbert (Dolores) Horrocks of Provo, Sister-in-laws, Bonnie Pulli and Iva Lou (Ron) Wadsworth, Brother-in-law Bryon (Linda) Allred of Price.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and sister.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the 1st & 3rd Ward Chapel, 130 South 300 East in Duchesne, Utah.

There will be a viewing Friday evening, November 29, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday 9-10:30 am at the Chapel prior to the services.

Burial will be at the Strawberry Cemetery under the direction of Hullinger Mortuary, with a Police Honor Guard
