Opal was born in Oklahoma and attended various schools from southwestern Seminary in Texas. Her husband preceded her in death and was a minister so they moved around a lot of their married life. Mrs Norton had a stationery business for many years in San Francisco. Mr. Norton was a chaplain for the San Francisco 49er's football team for some years.
Opal loved music and sang in several college choirs and directed several church choirs. They moved to Turlock in 1983 where Mr. Norton was the pastor of Berkeley Avenue Baptist Church for some years before retiring.
