Nelda Jean Threadgill, 85, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Chapman, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Nelda was born July 24, 1928 in Archer City, Texas to the late Basil and Callie (Connell) Sanders. In 1944, she married Marvin Callaway. In 1964, she married Coolidge Calvin Threadgill. He preceded her in death in 1996. Nelda preferred to be called by her middle name of Jean. She worked many years for the Perkins Timberlake Department Store in Wichita Falls until retiring in 1977. Jean and Coolidge enjoyed traveling in the western United States and going on cruises all around the Caribbean Islands. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona after her husband's passing, and enjoyed the desert lifestyle. She was a member of the Red Hat's Society, they were notorious around the Phoenix restaurants for their lively luncheons. In 2007, she moved to Springfield, Missouri to be near her son's family in her later years.

She is survived by her son, Keith Callaway of Springfield, Missouri; step-daughter, Connie Wallace of Houston; a brother, Charles Sanders of San Antonio; a sister, Bettie Jo Gilbert of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren, Lori Davis of Manassas Park, Virginia, and Monica Gatzke of Ft. Worth; step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Anna Wallace, and Gretchen Yamasita; great-grandchildren, Adam Davis, and Barrett Gatzke; and step great-grandchild, Pearl Yamasita.

The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.
