Charlon Yvonne Maples, age73, of Highlandville, passed away, Friday, November 22, 2013, in Springfield. She was born to Charles and Iva (Melton) Abbey, in Bronson, Kansas, April 13, 1940. On December 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Orville Maples. Charlon accepted the Lord as her Savior as a young girl in Bible School, in Ponce De Leon. She was a member of the Highlandville Assembly of God Church, where she was president of the Women's Ministry, for over 25, years. Charlon enjoyed crocheting spending time with friends and family.
Charlon is survived by: her son David Maples; two sisters, Eleanor Lawry, and husband Lowell, of Vancouver, WA, and Evelyn Patrick, and husband, Donald, of Spokane.
Charlon is preceded in death by: Her husband; a brother, Harold Abbey; and two sisters, Velma Bond, and Margaret Watts.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 25, 2013, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home, following the visitation. Burial will follow at Tory Cemetery, in Highlandville.
