Orvil Lee Ables, 69, of Michigan City passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2:52 a.m. at Franciscan Saint Anthony Hospital.

Viewing will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Cremation will follow viewing.

Orvil was born November 2, 1944 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee to the late Edd and Viola (Canada) Ables.

On June 29, 1968 in Michigan City he married Cynthia (Banas) Ables who is surviving in Michigan City.

Also surviving is one daughter: Tina (Randy) Lee of Michigan City; one son: Timothy (Carla) Ables of Tennessee; two grandchildren: Christopher (Ashley Tharp) Lee and Cody Lee; one great-grandchild on the way: Leon Thomas Lee; ten brothers and sisters: Edward, Howard, Eddie, Larry, Florence, Shirley, Betty, Bessie, Vinnie and Viney; mother-in-law: Jeanette Banas of Michigan City; one sister-in-law: Susan (Randy) Enos; two brother-in-laws: Richard Banas and Michael Banas; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.

Orvil was retired from Weil-McClain after 44 years of service.

He liked to go fishing, working in his garden and meeting with his friends at the bar.
