Coleen Gay Smith passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Grass Valley, Calif.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 23, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City, CA 95959. Viewing and visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Coleen was born to Willard and Gladys (Walling) Grose on March 22, 1933 in Palisade, Neb. The family moved from Neb to Ore., before settling in Turlock, Calif., where Coleen attended school and graduated from Turlock High School in 1951.

Coleen married Roger Williams in 1956 and they welcomed two children to their family, a son, Steven and a daughter, Jackie. Upon Roger's retirement from the Army, the family settled back to his hometown of Nevada City in 1971. They were married for 26 years.

In 1996 Coleen married a wonderful man, Lloyd Smith, in the Oakland LDS temple. They lived in Grass Valley before moving to St. George, Utah in 2003. They enjoyed 15 years together until Lloyd's passing in 2012. Upon the loss of her beloved husband, Coleen moved back to Grass Valley to be near her family and friends.

Coleen is survived by her children, Steve Williams (Shirley) of Grass Valley and Jackie Chronis (Leo) of Ione, Calif.; grandchildren, Steven Jr., Sheri, Samantha, Rhonda, Cassidy, Lane, Levi and Tonya and Lloyd's sons, Ed (Judy), Craig (Virginia) and Rick (Linda) and their wonderful children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Aileen Eguinoa, Iris Mendonca (Leonard), Inez Terra and a brother, Ardell Grose (Nancy).

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions, including Relief Society President, Humanitarian Leader as well as serving for many years as a temple worker with her beloved Lloyd.

She enjoyed sewing, needlework, genealogy, traveling, collecting sea shells & dolls and especially spending time with her family.

She was a devoted and cherished wife, mother, Grammy and friend. Her kind, sweet spirit will be greatly missed.
