James William Beynon, of LaVale, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born April 19, 1921, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Emma Jane Padfield Beynon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Young, 1990, after 44 years of marriage, brothers, Leonard Beynon and John Beynon and sisters, Nell Beynon and Mildred Bender. Mr. Beynon was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church and the LaVale Lions Club for over 40 years, where he received Lion of the Year and the Melvin Jones award. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 100, American Legion 13, AARP, served in the United States Air Force during World War II with rank of sergeant, stationed in England. He retired from Times News after 41 years of employment. While there he was a printer and a machinist. Surviving are his wife, whom he married in 1991, Katherine Samson Beynon; two stepdaughters, Sue Dinsmore and husband Robert, and Sharon Doucette and husband Roger; brother, Donald Beynon and wife Josephine, Cumberland; five step-grandchildren, Jackie Dinsmore, Katherine Doucette, Andrew Doucette, Zachary Simpson and Randall Simpson; and two great-grandchildren, Sam Doucette and Ryan Simpson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
