KEY, Harold Charles – Age 89, of Oakland, Oregon, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27 1998.

Harold was born on March 20, 1909 at Canby, Oregon, to Harry Gordon and Myrtle May (KHUN) Key.

The family moved to Los Angeles, California, when Harold was a baby. On January 3, 1935 in Los Angeles he married Mary E. McMahon.

Harold spent many years in construction, building homes. He also was a real estate agent for many years. He retired in 1971 at which time he and Mary moved to Oakland.

After retiring they traveled and redecorated old homes. Harold was a member of the United Church of God. Harold loved the Bible and what it stands for. His son said, “My dad never said anything bad about anyone. He was a selfless person who was always willing to help others, regardless of what they need help with, whether it was a flat tire, stalled car, whatever, he would help. Very humble and generous.”

Harold was very athletic, he loved sports of all kinds. His wife, Mary said, ”He was quite a dancer, just such a nice guy.” She commented that he recently received a certificate for a dance course that he took at the community college.

Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Mary E. Key of Oakland, a daughter, Kay Marlo Key of Newport Beach, California, a son, Van Marion Key of Kauai, Hawaii, a sister, Thelma Raker of San Diego, California, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a infant son, Harold Marvin Key, who died in 1942.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at 2:00 p.m., at the CHAPEL OF THE FIRS, in Sutherlin, Oregon. Mr. Randy Stiver and Pastor Sally Webber will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Oakland, Oregon.
