Richard "Dick" Spurgeon, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was born on February 18, 1930 in Holt, Michigan to the late Nyle and Elsie (Price) Spurgeon and went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2013 at the age of 83. He was employed at Schafer's Bakery from 1957 to 1987 as a Driver Salesman. He then worked for the city of Lansing at Waverly Golf Course as a Starter from 1987 to 2007. Dick was a member of the American Legion for eight years and a member of the Moose Lodge for 25 years. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served from 1950-1954. Dick spent the last eleven months at the VA Community Living Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three year old daughter, Cindy; and brothers, Lawrence, John and Robert. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Donna; daughter, Pamela (Jim) Taylor of Holt, MI; son, Randy of Louisville, KY; two grandsons, Jesse and Jeremy Taylor; and two great grandsons, Kaden Milbourn and Andrew Taylor. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends from 2:00~4:00 PM and 6:00~8:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
