Darryl "Sonny" Wayne Hill, whose Ojibwe name is "Waubun" which means "tomorrow", 49, of Red Lake, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Bethel Care Center in St. Paul.

Traditional Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake with spiritual leader Greg Kingbird. A wake will begin on Tuesday afternoon at the Little Rock Community Center and will continue until the time of the services. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born July 4, 1959 in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Frank and Alice (Ellis) Hill. He was raised and educated in Minneapolis. He worked hard as a commercial fisherman and landscaper. He was very versatile at his work. He spent his summers at Red Lake and returned to live there. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and liked to play cards and board games.

He is survived by 2 sisters- Linda Hill Mattson of Minneapolis Bonita Hill of Red Lake 2 brothers- Gregory Hill of Minneapolis Jeremy Hill of Red Lake Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, a brother- Faron Hill and a sister – Lanette Hill.
