Beverly Miles, 75, of Pine Street in Kittery, died with family by her side, on Saturday May 2, 2009, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a brief period of failing health.

Born in Lowell, Mass, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Catherine (Scott) Sterndale. She spent her early childhood years in the Lowell and Methuen areas, moved to Kittery as a young girl, and Kittery became her lifelong home. She attended local schools, graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1952.

Beverly and her husband, William Miles, made a home and raised their family on Pine Street, enjoying nearly 50 years of marriage, until his death in 2002. They enjoyed travel together, spending several winters in the Carolinas, and frequently traveling up the coast of Maine during the summer.

Her first love was undoubtedly her family, and time spent with her children and her cherished grand and great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face.

She is survived by her son, Brian Scott Miles of Dover, N.H; daughters, Linda McMahon of Kittery Point and Ann Marie Miles of Kittery; grandchildren, Sarah, Edward, William, Chelsea, Zachary and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Scott. Beverly was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2002, their son, Steven Miles, in 1993, and her two brothers and two sisters.

A graveside and committal service will be held on Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. in the Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot, with the Rev. Gordon Allen officiating. Friends may visit with Beverly's family on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904.
