Shawn Michael Miller, 24, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Monday, August 26, 2013, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois, after sustaining injuries in an accident.

Known for being a rambunctious kid, every time Shawn was around, you knew it! As he grew into adulthood, that spirit stayed with him. You also knew that when the chips were down, he would be there to help. He believed in friendship and living life to the fullest.

He enjoyed baseball, football, the Mississippi River, motorcycle riding, 4-wheeling, mowing, country music, and trucks.

He is a graduate with the West Carroll High School, Class of 2007.

Shawn also worked at Manny's Pizza throughout his life where he enjoyed being with family and friends. He worked two years at Titan Tire in Freeport, Illinois.

Shawn will be dearly missed by his loving parents, Douglas Miller of Mt. Carroll, Cheryl (Brett) Lawson of Thomson, Illinois and Kellie Castro of Savanna; seven brothers and sisters, Justin (Holly Haring) Woodhurst, Nathan (Dana) Schnitzler, Samantha Tiffany, McKenzie Miller, Ashlyn Miller, Trevor Miller and Devon Lawson; his grandparents, Gene (Carol) Wright of Savanna, Manny (Julia) Castro of Savanna and Sharon Woodhurst of Savanna; and his great- grandmother, Marie Wright of Mt. Morris, Illinois.

Shawn is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, John and Phyllis Miller; his aunt, Carol Miller; his cousin, Kaden Schnitzler; and two twin nieces, Kierra and Sierra.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
