STRATFORD — Services for Opal Lee Watts, 96, Stratford, are 10:30 a.m. Monday Nov. 18, 2013, at Stratford United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Lois Bartley. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery, Stratford.

The family will have a viewing Sunday Nov. 17, from 1-4 p.m. at Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford.

Mrs. Watts was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Van Buren County, Arkansas, to Curry L. and Ruth (Griffin) Duke. She died Nov. 14, 2013, in Pauls Valley.

Her family moved to Stratford, where Opal attended Stratford High School. She married Willie A. Watts in Stratford on Sept. 4, 1934.

She worked with Willie at Watts Cotton Gin and in the farming and cattle operations they owned. Mrs. Watts also worked at the Stratford Post Office for many years and was the assistant postmaster when she retired. After Willie died in 1977, she continued his term on the Garvin County Soil Conservation District Board of Directors and was later elected to continue on the board serving one term as chairman. She was a longtime member of Stratford United Methodist Church. She most recently received a certificate of appreciation from Pauls Valley Beautification for her flower beds at Willows Assisted Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie Aug. 20, 1977, siblings Dwade Perry, Pete Duke, Neil Duke, Nadine Duke, Billy Joe Duke and Beverly Duke Genge.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Helen Watts, Houston, Texas; one daughter, Marguerite Arn, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Susan Arn White and husband Bill, Shannon Watts and wife Lisa, Robyn Arn, Tracy Watts Felan and husband Tommy; six great-grandchildren, Tye Felan Jacobson and husband Loren, Trevor Felan, Emily Leveridge, Abby Leveridge, Trent Watts, Spencer Watts; three great-great-grandchildren, Mora and Jake Jacobson, Cohen Leveridge; and one brother, H. Keet Duke, California.

Bearers are Shannon Watts, Tommy Felan, Trevor Felan, Loren Jacobson, Trenton Watts, and Spencer Watts. Honorary bearers are Bill Medlock Jimmy Jarrell, O.A Savage, Bill Barnum, Mitchell Barnum and R.B. Wadley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Chandler Watts Library, United Methodist Church Stratford, or Valley Hospice, Pauls Valley.
