Grace S. Filkins, daughter of Benjamin and Melvina Filkins, was born January 14, 1875, in Fulton, Ill. She passed away in Fairmont, Neb., August 14, 1962, at the age of 87 years and 7 months.

February 14, 1883, she moved with her parents to a homestead five miles southeast of Exeter, where she lived until her marriage to Carey A. Dyer, May 1, 1901. To this union five children were born: Gladys I. Miller of Denver, Col., Harold E. Dyer of Kellogg, Idaho, Verdie A. Lochonkohl of Cozad, Neb., Loyd W. Dryer of Crete and Ernest G. Dyer, who preceded her in death.

She lived on the family farm southeast of Exeter until her husband passed away February 23, 1932. In September, 1936, she moved in to Exeter.

She became a member of the Christian Church as a young girl and was active in church activities until her health no longer permitted.

Mrs. Dyer's husband, parents , a son, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing four children, six grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held August 17, at 2:30 p.m. from the Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter with Rev. Donald Cassiday officiating. Burial was in the Exeter Cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard Steyer, Frank Becwar, John Terrill, Marion Lovegrove, Harold Downey and Irvin Coates.
