Doris Smith Lipsmeyer 85 of Montgomery, AL passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Mrs. Lipsmeyer was born July 16, 1928 in Spencer, TN to the late Edgar and Lola Haston.

She had been an active member of Kreole Baptist Church for 40 years. She was an LPN working for numerous doctors in the Pascagoula area. Doris was the first nurse Dr. Clifford Seyler hired when he opened his practice, becoming known as "Granny Doris " to all the patients. In 1989 she lost the love of her life and father to her children Willie Smith Sr. She would retire in 1991 and begin a new chapter in her life. Doris would later meet and marry Gerald Lipsmeyer, and together they lived in Newnan, GA for the past 20 years until his death in March of 2012. She was a loving, faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by two children, Barbara (Ken) Brittin and Willie (Linda) Smith; step children, Mark Lipsmeyer, Scott Lipsmeyer, Cecelia Lindsey, and Pamela Galle; a sister, Eva (Robert) Davis and a brother, Roy Haston; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jacob), Kathy, Christina (Brian) Elaine (Jamie) and Ben (Sara); step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Robbie and Barbra; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2013 from 10am -12 noon at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with the funeral to follow in the chapel at 12noon. Interment will conclude at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, MS.
