Evelyn H. Warburton, age 106, a longtime resident of Bloomsburg, died on Monday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2013, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home and under the care of Columbia-Montour Home Hospice.

Evelyn was born on Friday, Sept. 13, 1907, in Nordmont, Pa., a daughter of the late Norman B. and Ella M. (Peterman) Hess. In 1927, Evelyn completed her education after graduating from the Muncy Valley High School.

On April 10, 1939, Evelyn married her loving husband, Ralph E. Warburton. For over 13 years, she was employed in the Packing Department of Milco Industries until her retirement in 1961.

She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Scott Township.

On Aug. 10, 1988, Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, the late Ralph E. Warburton. She was also preceded by three brothers: Doyle E., Charles C., and William H. Hess, and by five sisters: Amanda C., Carolyn D., Lena I., Laura I. and Helen D. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Evelyn will always be remembered for her kind heart, determination, quick wit and the love she had for all of her family and friends at their time spent together.

Survivors include three daughters: Ruth Hrinda, with whom she resided in Bloomsburg; Nancy Hartzel and husband, Jack, of Bloomsburg; Jean Levan and husband, Russel, of Catawissa; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. from Calvary Baptist Church, 3300 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will also begin Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. from Calvary Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Timothy G. Smith, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in the Lightstreet Highland Cemetery, Scott Township.
