WALLACE C. "WALLY" PETERS
1912-2009
Wally passed away peacefully at his residence March 16, 2009. He was born October 12, 1912 in Colton, CA to Cornelius and Laura (Claasen) Peters.
Wally has been a Santa Maria resident since 1976. He was in employed as a Locomotive Engineer with Southern Pacific Railroad for nearly 41 years.
Wally was a member of Hesperian Lodge #264 F&AM, Silver Trowel #415 in Los Angeles, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Santa Barbara, Royal Order of Scotland, Allied Masonic Degrees, Al Malaikah Shriners. Los Angeles, 50 year member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers #5, Los Angeles, Native sons of the Golden West, He was instrumental in starting the High Twelve Club in Santa Maria. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Wally is survived by his son, David Peters, Bend Oregon, granddaughter, Christine Peters, Vacaville, CA, daughter-in-law, Thomasine Peters, Vacaville, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Peters in 1986.
Viewing hours will be Sunday March 22, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary with the funeral service Monday March 23, 2009 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 423 E. Fesler St., Santa Maria, CA with Pastor Herb Burch officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery with Hesperian Lodge # 264 F&AM officiating.
