Mrs. Shirley "Jean" Freeman, 75, of Lake City, FL passed away peacefully following an extended illness on Mon morning, Dec 27, 2010, surrounded by her family. A native of Chipley, FL, Mrs. Freeman had been a resident of Lake City from 1973 until 1993, and had returned from Dickinson, TX in 2003. Mrs. Freeman had worked as a cosmetologist until retiring. She loved camping and doing arts and crafts. She was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church, and was active with their Senior Adult Luncheons and her Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her father, Allen Henry Bush, and a daughter, Bobbie Jean Bennett. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joe Freeman; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Hardy of Lake City, FL; mother, Mattie Lee Hodges Bush of Chipley, FL; 2 brothers, Ronald A. Bush (FeFe) of Graceville, FL, and Donnie R. Bush (Billie) of Irondale, AL; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Freeman were conducted Dec 30, 2010 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Cunningham officiating. Interment followed in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery in Mason, Columbia, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home.
