Services for Ruth Flowers McCartney, age 88, of Olla will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2003 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Gloria Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery.

Mrs. McCartney was born in Olla on October 14, 1914 to the union of Yancy and Docia Mims Flowers and died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.

She was a retired clerk with U.S. Postal Service having served for 27 years. She and her late husband, Robert E. McCartney, owned and operated the Borden Milk Company in Olla for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olla.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother: Warren Doyle Flowers.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Bobby and Betty McCartney, her grandson: Brad McCartney and his wife: Micelle all of Olla, her sister-in-law: Wyannie Flowers and her niece: Nancy Meyers both of Washington State.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Harris, Delmar Gilliam, John Greene, Ikey Harris, Frank Crick and Todd Whittington.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 4823 Main Street 165, Olla, LA.
