Helen LeCompte Pickering, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Houma, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at 4 a.m.

Visitation will be Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church from 9-11 a.m. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Magnolia Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Pickering and their children, Donn Pickering and spouse Lydia Poche Pickering, James Pickering and Celeste Pickering Robichaux and spouse Colby as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Theresa LeCompte, her brother, Camille Rhodes and her sister Della Lawrence.

She was a graduate of St. Francis High School class of 1944. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
